"Amer" is a dark, surrealistic, experimental, erotic & nightmarish homage to Italian horror cinema of the '70s, but it's more style than substance -- a bloodstain of Giallo.

Generally, Amer's film language is akin to a glossy car advert in the style of giallo. At other times, the filmic experimentation is uncompromising, any meaning dissolves and only enigmatic imprints are left.

Its all very well trying to make a art house film with camera angles and colour filters but at some point one has to have a story and a plot at least. Intellectual wanking by film students at it shighest

Tantalizing avant-garde psychosexual horror film evokes the terror of sexual repression through wordless mental turmoil in three stages of a woman's life - childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

The pleasures of this gorgeous, clever, and visceral film are almost exclusively aesthetic. Those unmoved or alienated by the porn of pain may be left flopping as nervelessly as one of the movie's severed limbs.
