Lucifer incites Heaven's wrath by dispatching train cars of condemned souls a-crashin' through the pearly gates. This movie was truly spectacular. While expectations are generally that you've seen Repo the Genetic Opera or the first episode of The Devil's Carnival, this movie is for fans of horror, musicals, and all things weird! Think along the lines of Rocky Horror. The film was well-paced, and the film offered a much richer story without alienating the formula that the first film had. You will fall in love with the characters and the songs. Terrance and Saar's devotion to their world and the sounds within it really make the music a standout. The songs sound so authentic! I was leaning on the edge of my seat, watching in awe, and tapping my feet to the songs. I laughed, I nearly cried, it was a wonderful ride that only a carnival can give. Truly something special that the adventurous should look into. But the question is, are you a Heavenly saint, or a Hell-bound sinner?

My new favorite movie. Every detail contributes beautifully to the whole to build a complete, well thought-out world. I really have nothing but praise. Alleluia!

Another fun and wild ride! Paul Sorvino playing the Almighty God and Terrance Zdunich playing Lucifer. The prequel to The Devils Carnival, it takes you back and gives you some back story to a few characters. Don't want to spoil the fun! GO SEE IT! It is starting the road tour next week. I liked the expanding of the world of The Devil's Carnival, and I liked the portrayal of Heaven as being like golden age Hollywood (pretty from a distance, but tainted when you look closer), but overall I think Devil's Carnival worked better as a short rather than a feature. It kind of starts to overstay its welcome, and Heaven isn't as much fun as Hell was (also Hell had better songs). Still, if you're a fan of Devil's Carnival, you'll probably enjoy this entry since it has a lot more of what you love. The sets are gorgeous making full use of their miniscule budget, the performances are great, the songs are catchy, and the themes are interesting. The extended runtime does also manage to give more time for character development, so it ends up being a bit deeper in that regard than the original. Overall I definitely like the first one more, but this is still a welcome entry in the saga. And with that painful cliffhanger ending, I can't wait to see what comes next.
