Random songs (with lyrics that were probably created during a JAM competition), hammy acting and a terrible 'god damn awful' script make this movie an agonizingly boring watch. Everybody is a frigging caricature. Bacchan's half-decent performance and <3 Deepika Padukone <3 were the saving grace. Jha's worst film to date!!

While its questions of affirmative action and charter schools could theoretically resonate with American audiences, the picture's corny theatrics, talky, preachy approach and taxing 164-minute running time will not translate.

it was more of mohabbatein part 2 rather than reservation...except bacchanji and bajpai rest was a blur!

At times it's so heavy-handed and clunky in laying out the arguments for and against quotas that it resembles a high school debate rather than a quality drama.

What exactly was Prakash Jha thinking while making Aarakshan? Reservation or Education? Tacky Bollywood movie (in which everything/everyone reverse their course of action and suddenly realize the strength of righteousness in the end) or hero-worshiping flick (where everybody else, apart from Amitabh, has little to perform)? Reservation is unquestionably a dauntless issue to tackle on the big screen. But alas, Mr Jha ruined it by making an over-long trite joke.
