The humor and constant serious look on the face of Walter Matthau plus funny physical comedy made this a movie I can recommend. I liked Elaine May's nerd scientist character and the movie was inventive and had original ideas. Fun, a different kind of comedy, yet one of the best comedies I've seen.

A series of perfectly timed, perfectly observed moments. Walter Matthau is just brilliant and the comedy never falls into slapstick. And the toga sequence had me in tears...
