i can't believe i'm giving such a low rating for a Newman- Woodward movie (especially Joanne was delightful). Was it a comedy though? It was a romantic nothing. A womanizing dick meets a dynamic tomboy who doesn't want to change but then she does and they fall in love.

What? One of the strangest movies I have seen in a long time. An attempt at a makeover genre/romantic comedy/error in identity movie that falls short of the mark. The ending is supposed to be funny and uplifting, but read in another light is creepy and threatening. The gender double standard, subtly present in so many rom-coms, is almost unbearable by the end. The only thing that saves this movie from no stars is how beautiful Paul Newman is - however, he shines much more brightly in his other films. Woodward is always charming, but again, better in her other films.

The fourth onscreen teaming of Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward is a thin, lame comedy, written and directed by Shavelson, which doesn't befit the caliber of their talents.

No wonder women revolted in the sixties if this was the kind of drivel spewed out. Ladies! All you need to get Paul Newman after having him mistake you for a man (because you are foolishly too focused on your career) is to get a makeover that makes you look like a drag queen. Hilarity does not ensue. If I had a bra I would burn it after watching this.
