Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Julianne Moore, David Strathairn, and Chloe Sevigny. Directed by Scott Elliott. Written by Peter Hedges and Polly Platt. Rated [b]R[/b] (for some sexuality and language). Running time approximately 2 hours 8 minutes. Scott Elliott's [i]A Map of the World[/i] is a wholly convincing drama about love, loss and redemption. I know that probably sounds completely lame and contrived, but the film proves such thoughts to be incorrectly applied. I really enjoyed this film. That's the wrong word. The film really affected me, and in all the right ways. It does run a bit too long, and there are some unnecessary elements, but all in all, this is a good one. Weaver and Moore are wonderful, as usual. [b]***1/2 (out of ****) B+[/b]

The movie Weaver has to carry has so many nagging imperfections that Academy Award attention looks like a long shot.

This is a great movie to see but sad also 2 familys best friends one day the one mother is babysitting the other friends kids an the 2 year old goes missing where is she i wont tell you you have to watch the movie to find out

Scott Elliott's palsied directorial debut, from a mine shaft-ridden script, is a sick joke, and Weaver's part in it screams of temporary insanity.
