this is a classic. stunning, evocative, inspiring and feel good. unique needs to be revisited by all generation xers

Although A Man and a Woman's storytelling resembles calligraphy, the love story itself is quite uninteresting. The movie is nothing else than pretty pictures combined with a catchy soundtrack that until the last half hour (when Anne sends to Jean-Louis a message saying: I love you) hardly can keep the story flowing. The most interesting element of the film, I think, is to observe how the love gets born and grows between them...

Not a bad run after you get past the incessant theme song in all its variations. The only movie I know of where half was shot in B & W due to budget constraints rather than thematic concerns.
