John Woo's best action flick, and quite possibly the best Hong Kong action movie ever made--the engaging and emotional story, the performances by Ti Lung, Leslie Cheung, including Chow Yun-Fat, as one of H.K.'s most iconic characters in film history. This movie helped redefine the genre by replacing swords and kung fu with almighty handguns and bloody gunfights. If you grow an interest with the H.K. action genre, start off with this one.

This is my favorite John Woo movie. The plot is pretty conventional, but it has a lot of sentimental value for me

John Woo's break through movie started it all. The action scenes are highly inventive, although not quite as high octane as his later work it still stands as one of the most stylistic action movies in history.
