Ridley Scott who knows a thing of two about suspense could learn a thing of tow about this movie..Two hands to the mouth gasps and 2 look aways..makes it a very good movie to me..

'71 is a great movie; suspenseful, action packed, great acting. The basic story is a British soldier is separated from his platoon during a riot in Belfast. His struggle to survive the night is the basic story. The conflict between the Catholic and Protestant factions is difficult to follow. Who is with the IRA? Who is a traitor? Who is simply trying to help an injured man? Do the Irish really talk with that heavy an accent? I could have used some subtitles. Overall, it is a great movie and well worth seeing...

There wasn't a second in this film where I was distracted by anything around me or in the film. I was astounded with the performances, the score was incredible, the action was impressive. Jack O'Connell is certainly an actor to look out for.

Somehow this fictional nightmare scenario for this soldier left behind on the wrong side of the 'fence' and surrounded by those that personify him as the live target to exhume their frustration on, seems to capture the audience in this nail biting chase for survival. The director makes it all feel almost real and coupled with the consistently amazing performance of O'Connell (see him in Starred Up) this film is one that you will not quickly forget.
