Richard Attenborough so damn creepy in this movie about the English serial killer John Christie. He was active in the 1940s and 50s and killed 7 women including his wife. John Hurt is outstanding as Timothy Evans,the Welshman who was Chrisy's tenant and was wrongly hanged for the murder of his infant daughter. This is a very sad and harrowing story that will make you think twice about capital punishment.

A really good film. Had to keep reminding myself - this actually happened! Great performances by Richard Attenborough and John Hurt.

A rather strong case against capital punishment. It's a shockingly sad story played out brilliantly in this film, Richard Attenborough as John Christie is terrifying.

A true story than played a major part in the ending of capital punishment in the UK. Along with the Ruth Ellis and Derek Bentley cases, none of whom should have been hanged. John Hurt is is totally convincing as the illiterate, but egotistical Timothy Evans, always desperate to "big" himself up. Attenborough is chillingly creepy as Evans's nemesis and mass murderer. What a telling film!! You must see it
