It's a collaborative effort with Woody (who, unusually, looks happy to be interviewed), so we see him at home (showing off a typewriter he bought for $40 at 16), writing on his bed and standing outside his childhood home in Brooklyn. Allen is endearing in his belief that any of his success has been a happy accident and that he has yet to make a great film that will stand the test of time.

A hell of a documentary for the fan and the casual observer. Woody makes a fascinating subject mainly because he pretty much never does this stuff. Filled to bursting with a smorgasbord of fine clips and interviews. It definitely made me want to reach back into his filmography and check out the films I haven't seen yet. It's a little early to tell of course, but this will most likely go down as the definitive account of Allen's life and work.
