West Is West (1987)

Vikram (Ashotosh Gowariker) is an Indian immigrant from Bombay who lands in San Francisco. His happiness over his arrival in the United States is diminished when customs officers unexplainably trim his tourist visa from six months to one. When he arrives at the home of his sponsor, he finds that the building is abandoned, and his application to study at the University of California has been rejected. He later meets Sue (Heidi Carpenter), a punk-rock femme who works at a late-night theater specializing in horror films, and Vikram becomes very fond of the woman, proposing marriage in hopes of starting a new life in the United States.

A worthy sequel to East is East. Very underrated and was surprised how good it actually is. Watch it peeps, even appeals to non Asians too!

A series of ill-conceived, poorly executed comedy set pieces which do nothing to add to the depressing flimsiness of the one-dimensional characters, if they can even be called characters when in reality they are little more than interchangeable vehicles for the movie's dragging, stereotyped, painful attempts at comic delivery. Truly terrible.

I really don't know how to like this kinda movie...

Although the comedy feels as broad as the Atlantic initially, once the main characters are transplanted to Pakistan things look up as the script begins to properly probe the emotional flaws of the characters rather than just opting for cheap laughs.

This film has all the element to a good film, a film for everyone.
