Wavelength's relatively brief runtime of 45 minutes is utilized to cross a single room while toying around with sound effects and color schemes. The result is as boring and maddening as it fascinating and revelatory.

Cannot find a copy of this. So good. Soo good. Will pay for a copy if anyone can locate it.

A classic of structural film. Wavelength is a novel idea: a zoom for 45 minutes that is more pivotal than the semblance of faux-narrative elements placed within the film. However brilliant it is conceptually and intellectually, the film is quite inaccessible and - besides some humorously bad acting from the great Hollis Frampton - not particularly entertaining. Recommended for those interested in a challenging and intellectually stimulating film.

This film's concept worked successfully. The light and sound frequencies and the zooming complimenting each other as the camera zoomed in or changed focus and the carefully made textural composition at different times of the day until the end of it is reached are clear and flowing elements of an cohesive idea/structure from start to finish. A materialist approach to film although it seems to have an inflational effect, until matter itself becomes abstract at the end through that photography of waves, through zooming in, instead of everything becoming more palpable and intelligible. At the very end, it zooms out, as if the more we focus the less we can see. Perhaps this is the way life is, perhaps it's the cycle of all things..
