Visioneers (2008)

Visioneer George Washington Winsterhammerman lives a comfortable but monotonous life in this slightly futuristic black comedy. A very very well composed film. Of course this thing is ridiculous, it's absurd, it's disturbing, annoying, dark, crazy, and brilliant. This stuff is written in the vein of Don Delillo and Kurt Vonnegut, it's everything that Wes Anderson wishes he was, it's actually funny and actually has substance all at the same time. It's not just another stupid art film that tries to confuse you in order to make you think its art - it's not just a vague representation of modern culture - it's an in depth search of the soul to a character who doesn't exist.

Sublime in the sense of an understated slap in the face to society. For those of us who question the path, this movie puts it all together. Also funny, well acted in its own way and all in all a joy to watch. (recommend free hulu, for the commercials just bring it all home.)

A well done film, with some jabs at pretty absurd humor which makes it good, but it is something that I fell has been done a lot before. The whole midlife crisis/everyone in their rut has been done before and this film puts it together well, but is just entertaining and not as deep or interesting as it would hope.

very very odd, and dark in a lighthearted sort of way

Probably with jbissell on this one, I think. I should probably watch it again sometime. Sometimes it's really great and it's a film that I should be into. So yeah, it's an odd film, I don't know what to say. Let's call it a C+ for now.
