This is a fascinating page in the history of the Civil War based on the incredible story of Sergeant Joseph Hoover of the Union Army, who escaped from a Confederate prison camp and made his way North with the help of black slaves and the Underground Railroad. Director Oliver Stone's son, Sean, plays Hoover and is solid, as is Tank Jones as the slave who helps him. As directed by Harvey Lowry, the film looks beautiful, with gorgeous locations in the deep South, and riveting performances. I also thought the musical score was terrific, with able work from a number of artists, including Cactus Moser.

Union Bound is a great movie based on a diary of a soldier that ran away from prisoner camp during civil war. During the escape and their path from deep south into freedom soldiers were helped by many slaves. Since the story was based on a diary i believe that the writer did a great job with the dialog between the characters to bring the diary story to life. Overall great movie with great story and i would recommend it to anyone.

Sean Stone does a terrific job portraying the story of a Union Soldier's capture by Confederate forces, his escape & the struggle to get back to his Union troops. The escapees are aided by slaves through what is now known as the Unsderground Railroad. Based on the diaries kept by Joseph Hoover, the movie shows the struggles & life altering decisions men made during the Civil War. Thought it was terrific
