Should have been a great story, however , the acting was not believable. I would expect this level of talent from the local commmunity theater. The prison camp set was a small field, roped off with a couple dozen small white tents. Later the actors claimed they had been held in intolerable conditions. These were not evident by the set or the action that took place on that set. The script was awkward, sometimes unbelievable.

Incredible movie! This movie is about Joseph Hoover and Tom Ryan, both Union soldiers who are fighting to uphold the union, but get captured by Confederate soldiers during a battle. After escaping from a prison, they travel hundreds of miles back to their troops, helped along the way by Jim Young and many other slaves. The film was made beautifully. John Errington's writing and cinematography are stellar and the acting is magnificent. The directing by Harvey Lowry is top knotch. His eye for everything of the period really brought this film to an unexpected level. The tone and pacing are great. Tank Jones and Randy Wayne are truly standouts. Expect to see great things from these guys. I expected to see more fighting in a civil war movie, but this film really isn't about that. Don't miss this film.

Excellent film for the entire family. Beautiful Carolina scenery, historically accurate plantations and slave quarters, shows compassion and humanity between blacks and whites. Story is based on the diary kept by an escaped Union soldier bound for the north.

Union Bound is a great movie based on a diary of a soldier that ran away from prisoner camp during civil war. During the escape and their path from deep south into freedom soldiers were helped by many slaves. Since the story was based on a diary i believe that the writer did a great job with the dialog between the characters to bring the diary story to life. Overall great movie with great story and i would recommend it to anyone.
