I don't know. I mean I could see the criticism but it's not the worst horror film ever made. I think it would be more fun had it been aimed at kids. The creatures amongst other scares you would find in "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" or an R.L. Stine adaptation. However the serious tone, language, and gore wouldn't be appropriate for younger viewers. If you were to take that stuff out and add some light than you might have a live action "Monster House". Basically if you like "Little Monsters", "The Gate", and "House" than you might find some likable qualities in this. However those I mentioned had a lot more going for them. This is a nice car that drives on flat tires.

Was this ever bad... The acting and dialogue are beyond atrocious, it made me cringe everytime these actors opened their mouth. I actually felt embarassed for them. Wouldn't be a problem if the movie wasn't such a drag that doesn't go anywhere, featuring a bland monster that feeds on dead tissue (???), hides under a bed and also behind a shit ton of plot holes and inconsistencies that make little sense in the end. There's some solid deaths in the end but the set up is so stupid they become quickly laughable. "RUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!" - dad with male boobs so so bad...

The only thing that saves this film from complete banality is Jonny Weston's performance. He pulls off 'brooding and traumatized' rather well. The guy who plays the father does a fair job as well. The major problem with this film is that it takes so.... very.... long to get rolling. The last ten minutes are exciting. Everything before that? Eh. Not so much. I experienced a number of "why the hell would they do THAT?" moments while watching this film as well as some times when I could not help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. The concept is promising. The execution falls somewhat flat. But, if you're looking for b-rate horror, you could do worse.

Starts slow but last quarter of the movie is really climatic.

The movie 'Under the Bed' was pretty good and in the long list of potential lower budget horror films to watch, I would put this one close to the top. The story was a bit predictable, but what do you expect from a movie named 'Under the Bed' - there were a few twists and turns in the storyline and the ending was fun. I thought the actors did a great job keeping me interested and engaged in the story, and actually were able to keep me on the edge of my seat during the scary parts of the story. Lacking the big budget CGI special effects, the costume and makeup team did a good job of creating a monster that was realistic enough to be scary, but not so much as to look out of place. If you are looking for a fun and scary movie - this is a good one.
