love this movie could watch it over and over

It's brutal scene's are interesting, but the rest of the film is unfaithful, because of the constant reminder that the Indian's are the one's who are savage, bale, grotesquely destructive towards Americans. For instances in a great many scene's "Why do they do these thing's?" (A boy was left an orphan after the Apache kill his mother). "Because you took there land, you dumb f*ck." Not only racist towards Native American's, but dick's to horses.

Hollywood's vision on the native indians vs. the U.S. Cavalry is deconstructed in this realistic story about the hunt for a renegade Apache by using the services of another Apache as scout (Jorge Luke as the cool Ki-Ne-Tay). Lancaster is great as the scout leader with some great dialogue lines (man: "I am not Dutch!" Lancaster: "Well..you look Dutch to me!") Too bad this movie wasn't presented in cinemascope format.

A superior western though somewhat ponderous and its action sequences are formulaic.
