Twin Falls Idaho (1999)

Francis and Blake Falls are Siamese twins who live in a neat little room in a rundown hotel. While sharing some organs, Blake is always fit and Francis is very sickly. Into their world comes a young lady, who turns their world upside down. She gets involved with Blake, and convinces the two to attend a Halloween party, where they can pass themselves off as wearing a costume. Eventually Francis becomes really ill, and they have to be separated. They then face the physical and mental strains that come from their proposed separation.

Twin Falls Idaho (1999) - "That's okay. If you didn't buy a ticket, we usually send you screaming." - Blake Co-joined twins live in an old, decrepit hotel. There, dressed in tailor-made suits, they await their fate. One day, a pretty call girl knocks on their door. Michael and Mark Polish direct/write and play the lead roles in this Independent Spirits Award nominated film. Michele Hicks plays the call girl. The writing is good, but breaks down a bit near the end of the film; so goes the writing, so goes the acting. An added bonus is M. David Mullen's lighting. I love his work.

It was incredibly graceful and well shot at first. I was hypnotized. At some point â?? maybe half way through â?? the movie got clumsy and a tiny bit heavy handed. It felt like they said what they had to say and realized they still had to finish the story.

I really really love this movie, it's one of my favorites. I've seen it a few times and I never get tired of it. Written and starring Mark and Michael Polish (and directed by Michael), it's about conjoined twins and their relationship with a prostitute. The movie takes its time and has a very small cast, but the story is so great and powerful. Though I've only seen one other of the Polish brothers films, Northfork (which is also excellent, I'm looking forward to seeing Astronaut Farmer), I think they're a talented duo. The ending is wonderful.

I would rate this higher, but it's sad and therefore, not something I'd watch a lot. Very good though. Watch it.

Surprisingly formulaic. So many scenes seem lifted from a 1950s melodrama, from Blake and Francis' repentent mother (Leslie Ann Warren) to the film's tearjerker of a final scene.
