Twelve Monkeys (1995)

In the year 2035, convict James Cole reluctantly volunteers to be sent back in time to discover the origin of a deadly virus that wiped out nearly all of the earth's population and forced the survivors into underground communities. But when Cole is mistakenly sent to 1990 instead of 1996, he's arrested and locked up in a mental hospital. There he meets psychiatrist Dr. Kathryn Railly and the son of a famous virus expert who may hold the key to the Army of the 12 Monkeys; thought to be responsible for unleashing the killer disease.

This movie is amazing. It leaves your mind in a twist wondering what happened. Great acting by Bruce Willis. Great directing. But the best part is the story line! Truly original.

Great story with some twists and incredible performance by Brad Pitt as a weirdo.

It's hard to choose a favorite Terry Gilliam film, but it's probably between this film and Brazil. This is probably the best performance of Bruce Willis' career and it's absolutely the best performance of Brad Pitts career. Most Gilliam movies are bright and vibrant, but this film is, fittingly, very dank and depressing. I mean the movie is about a virus that wipes out most of the human population. This movie has not lost any of its appeal over its 17 years of existence.

12 Monkeys is one of the most innovative and original movies to involve time traveling. Instead of trying to change the future, by going back in time, Willis merely goes back to gather information to help the future. Excellent acting, memorable characters are all brought stylishly in this dark futuristic science fiction film by Terry Gilliam. The movie keeps you questioning, and each time the movie is watched you learn something new or pick up something new everytime.

Amazing movie from Gilliam, very dark and twisted, a real time travel mystery, really makes you think, Loved Brad Pitt as a loon
