This movie is POWERFUL! Once you see this you'll have a different view on the war in Iraq. This movie also gives an outstanding performance by very talented and gifted young people. May movies like these have a deep impact on those who see this movie. You won't be sorry.

This must be one of the finest films depicting war (which, however, we never really see on screen) out there. There is no attempt to cast a particular political message other than that war is incredibly destructive, no matter who is waging it. It would be very easy to be sentimental or propogandizing with a film about orphans in the midst of a war zone, but Ghobadi wisely steers away from either of those extremes, resulting in a truly 'powerful' piece of cinema. Sure, there are times when the film's obviously low budget becomes apparent, and there are some lapses in the plot, but these are all very minor problems.

One of the best films I have seen all year. It was a world I knew very little about and the child actors were just superb. Very moving!
