Newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory's 7-year-old son Liam up to the country for some much needed family time. When it appears as if Liam has run away, psychological suspense becomes straight-out horror, as Sarah and Cory must now confront a sadistic cult-like family who have been hiding in the house all along and have taken Liam for themselves.

Katharine Isabelle stars in the dark thriller Torment. When a newly married couple takes their son to their country house they end up being hunted by a backwater cult. The film does an impressive job at creating tension and atmosphere, but the characters aren't developed very well. The son in particular is unsympathetic and doesn't seem worth the effort his parents go through to save him. And the ending is painfully cliche, with the villain popping up for one last scare/twist. Still, Torment has enough creepiness and disturbing imagery to delivery some chills.

We've seen it all before, reaping influence from so many sources, including Ils, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Deliverance and the like, but Barker does it with such passion and style that you just can't wait to help yourself to more. My only criticism is how short it was, time could well have been given to a back story but it doesn't dampen how good it was overall...Fans of the genre will lap this up, great...

Not terribly bad to watch but it isn't the best slasher flick out there. This felt like You're Next with The Strangers mixed in but couldn't find its point or story well. You get left with a feeling of cluelessness that at the end doesn't give you any kind of wrap up. passable for a watch but nothing that you'll miss if you don't watch.
