Timecode (2000)

A production company begins casting for its next feature, and an up-and-coming actress named Rose tries to manipulate her filmmaker boyfriend, Alex, into giving her a screen test. Alex's wife, Emma, knows about the affair and is considering divorce, while Rose's girlfriend secretly spies on her and attempts to sabotage the relationship. The four storylines in the film were each shot in one take and are shown simultaneously, each taking up a quarter of the screen.

Clever idea, original, and risky. But it failed to ever really capture my attention. I found my eyes wandering the screen not out of curiosity to see what the other characters were up to, but rather out of boredom. I think this is a much better experiment - as if the director had the idea and just wanted to see if they could pull it off. But as a film that an audience has to sit through, there was still much left to be desired.

An odd one as there is no denying that it is a brave piece of work by all involved but ultimately it does get a bit tiresome by the end.

Not exactly what I had expected but still impressive. Due to some necesseties some of the stuff in the film is pretty trashy (e.g. the earthquakes) but it also gives it an own spirit. Funny, tragic, weird and uncontainable in watching it once.
