I love this movie. A weird, very Johnny To tribute to Akira Kurosawa. People tend to overlook the film because it actually is very visual. There is character development but it is shown, not told. And it is shown often through situations of the quirky characters reacting to each other in the quirky situations they get into.

Johnnie To's homage and tribute to the Great Akira Kurosawa, Throwdown is one heck of a movie. If you can surpass people in modern society, throwing down each other to a judo match at a blink of an eye, you'll appreciate this gem.

it's an odd film and most will hate it. i adore it's tribute to Kurosawa, and the whimsical tone To took. the relationships between the actors are just awesome.

A compelling remix of aesthetic showmanship and human movement Bursting with gangsters, gambling and human weakness in general, Johnnie To's Throwdown is so strange and idiosyncratic that it's almost surreal.

A pleasant surprise, Adoring & filled with memorable sequences, Feels a bit rushed near the end but overall this is truly what a feel-good movie should be like
