At a sizable public college, high-minded student Eddy is forced to room with the slovenly Stuart, but the pair strike up a surprising friendship. When attractive co-ed Alex is assigned to live with the two male students because of her gender-neutral name, a roundabout love triangle ensues. Eddy secretly yearns for Stuart, who wants Alex, but she prefers Eddy. The complex situation leads to sexual experimentation and strained relationships.

Not a great movie, but in its own way it is an effective one, and more than most other movies it is accurate and honest about the sexuality of young people.

The title notwithstanding, this is a sweet, funny romantic comedy; Josh Charles is superb as sexually confused Eddie (I may be a little prejudiced, but he's certainly very good), Stephen Baldwin somehow manages to be both obnoxious and vulnerable, and Lara Flynn Boyle sparks off both men. My one complaint is that, having established that Eddie is (mostly) gay, it would have been nice to have seen that side of his character develop, rather than focus as the film does on his heterosexual relationship. Very enjoyable.

I listened to the film on television last night. I must say that I was not expecting to love the film! That's trashy !! Finally, I think that is very topical as the subject ... I really liked! There are provocative scenes, but this is funny!! Sometimes it's a little too unrealistic, but as this situation is not serious, it is a film after all! That makes us think about those kind of relationship... it makes react at least! I know that fikm SUCKS but it's like an old "American Pie" for baby boomers :P
