One of the greater Unexpectedly but anticipating movies. A great film, a truly an action film.

If you like Michael Mann realism I suggest you look no further than this little cult classic. This is a gritty, glossy and containing a stirring central performance from James Cann (arguably his best cinematic effort) this ignored film deserves a bigger audience.

Finally saw this awesome movie. James Caan and Tuesday Weld are pretty much perfect as characters in transition. Willie Nelson is Caan's anchor to the past. James Belushi gives good sidekick. Caan has old values but things are in transition. In fact, this movie *is* transition. Daytime belongs to the 70's cops and robbers genre: harsh light, cheap suits, bad shaves, bent cops. The 80's come out at night: Tangerine Dream music, rain, neon on black cars. One scene evokes Blade Runner... except this came first.

Pretty much the basis character wise for later movies like "The Town" and "Drive". Being a Micheal Mann movie automatically makes it cool, plus it was shot in Chicago.
