Don't bother watching if you have any interest in finance or the actual fraud that took place. This movie is simply a weak exploration of some of the family interactions that supposedly took place between Bernie and his wife and children. A story about family dynamics, not a story about his success/fraud.

Very disappointing. Good cast but poor direction of an interesting story. Frequent flashbacks totally destroy any sense of suspense

Loved it! Michelle and Robert did wonders with this film.

One of the better Madoff movies (it shows the aftermath instead of during his scheming), but seriously, haven't we heard and seen enough of this guy already? I don't think we should popularize some guy who cheated people out of millions of dollars. The only thing that really made this movie OK was the cast (De Niro, Pfeifer). I feel like the TV series "Madoff" showed mostly all of what was in this movie, although not in depth as much.

What Wizard of Lies lacks in terms of a broader historical span is compensated for by telling Madoff's tale as a classical tragedy about hubris and human cost - only in this case we watch as the villain's wife and children take the brunt of the toll.
