'The Wind Rises' is another visual masterpiece from Studio Ghibli, But it's a bit more realistic compared to others from the Studio. Story is much more tame and follows a young man and his dreams to build airplanes for Japan, Now that sounds much more dull then it really is. He get's to work on the Bombers and Fighter planes used by the Japanese Military and work on his passions and that's what this film gets across....follow your passion. The main character never gives up on it, He also has extremely visual dreams of beautiful aircrafts that let him fully experience what he loves. Wind Rises was originally Hayao Miyazaki's final film before he stepped down and it has the feeling that he poured his devotion and passion into it. With most Ghibli films the English dubs are quite good and it's no different here, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and John Krasinski do an extraordinary job on this aswell. If your a fan of Anything Ghibli and Miyazaki you must give this film your time.

I tried to score 10 but, finally, I decided to score 9. "The Wind Rises" is like a Gabriel García Márquez's book. Miyazaki combines magical realism with traditional Japanese customs. If Isao Takahata gave a masterpiece about World War II titled "Grave of the Fireflies", Hayao Miyazaki brings most adult film ever for audiences. "The Wind Rises" is very difficult for some people because they aren't trained for these films. "The Wind Rises" must win next Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

As a big fan of "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Moving Castle", I had high hopes for this movie. While beautiful, the length and minimal story line left me wishing I had waited until it came out for rental.

A work of immense mystery and strangeness, loaded with unforgettable images, spectacular sweeps of color and nested, hidden meanings. It feels to me like a meditative epic about Japan’s traumatic journey into modernity, and a complicated allegory about the innocence, arrogance and culpability of artists. It’s one of the most beautiful animated films ever made, and something close to a masterpiece.
