This movie is in close contention for "the most depressing movie ever made." You thought your family was dysfunctional...think again. One of the strongest and least noticed directorial debuts by an accomplished actor ever.

Absolutely phenomenal in every way, although it may be the bleakest movie I've ever seen. Most certainly not for most people.

very real and to me it was open ended..quite a depressive and sad one but definately worth watching especially if you are used to bad weathered english movies

by the time you get to the last 10 mins of this film you think there is nothing left that can shock you you are wrong it's not as if you didnt see it coming, all the flags and pointers are there for you to pick up on it should be compulsory viewing for all those mental health professionals and social workers see if they are up to the job and can see the points at which intervention is required

Prepared to be shocked, this has incest in it and quite graphic, but is very dark and moody, quite an excellent film. Ray Winstone is on superb perforance here.
