The Tuskegee Airmen (1995)

During the Second World War, a special project is begun by the US Army Air Corps to integrate African American pilots into the Fighter Pilot Program. Known as the "Tuskegee Airman" for the name of the airbase at which they were trained, these men were forced to constantly endure harassement, prejudice, and much behind the scenes politics until at last they were able to prove themselves in combat.

This is a great WWII film based on true events. The film has a great cast and the story is great about the first African American pilots for the war. Laurence Fisburne and Cuba Gooding Jr. are both excellent in this. The story shows how the pilots had to deal with the racism throughout the film and still be able to serve their country and fellow officers. A great film.

Tells the story of the very first African American fighter pilots in World War II, their struggle in training and against political powers which tried to keep them from active duty and finally active combat in Africa and Europe. These men fought for their country and their heroism changed history. The casting's good and the air combat scenes are very interesting. Some historical facts are a little off, but overall an enjoyable film experience.

Great aviation film if you are into that sort of stuff. Or if you are a WWII fan, it has a lot of information about dogfights and the life of some of the fighters of the 99th flight squadron and the 332nd.
