The Tuskegee Airmen (1995)

During the Second World War, a special project is begun by the US Army Air Corps to integrate African American pilots into the Fighter Pilot Program. Known as the "Tuskegee Airman" for the name of the airbase at which they were trained, these men were forced to constantly endure harassement, prejudice, and much behind the scenes politics until at last they were able to prove themselves in combat.

The movie was well done, with great story, great actors, great acting

Though a bit cheesy by today's standards, the acting and vintage feel still makes for a solid film.

A Must See! I personally met a real Tuskeegee Airmen at the Space & Science Museum in Hampton VA

Incredibly stirring account of real life heroes, fighting a war and discrimination at the same time. Fishburne, Gooding, Jr., and Braugher bring a strong but quiet dignity to their performances.

Loved this film. The based-on-truth story of the 332nd Army Air Force squadron, who were all black, in a time of a segregated army. The story covers their personal triumphs and tragedies as they become (or fail to become) pilots, with much higher obstacles to over come than white pilots. It also covers the attempts by at least one politician to shut down the "experiment" and the methods he used. Finally it relates their justification as being the nest escort service available for Berlin air raids. The whole thing was uplifting and the acting was great. The period details looked as authentic as i have seen, and if it isn't totally true to life, who cares? It's not a documentary. Loved it! Watch it!
