The Tortured is from the producers of SAW, so there's the usual gore and torture throughout, with their trademark twist at the end, brilliant! It's similar to the recent 7 Days so take your pick, they're both very good films!

It may be horrible to admit, but I enjoyed it. The editing in the film was horrible and the ending didn't flow all that great. However, the ending had a nice surprise twist that I didn't see coming. If I had a child, I'm afraid I may have reacted similarly.

There's an opportunity here for screenwriter Marek Posival and director Robert Lieberman to play up the squeamishness of upper-middle-class torturers who don't fit the profile, but they're too busy tending to horror-thriller clichés.

I have just watched this movie and I suddenly became clueless when the revelation comes out in the end, the scene where another person came out from the van. I played it back for more than 5 times to be sure if they got the wrong person. And Oh my God, they did! All those times they're torturing the wrong person? But what's with the letter? And how did he know the child's name? Why they didnt recognize him? Is it because of his bloody face? But yeah, I admit that I also didn't recognize that he's not the kidnapper until the end. Again, after The Uninvited, I've found a movie that really gave me a hangover. :)

For anyone who isn't too big a sissy, this isn't a bad film. Anyone who says Saw is good, can't really say this is all that much worse. If you can't handle horror flicks, simply avoid them. All that said, this isn't a real thoughtful movie, it could have been done much better. But I think most of the really negative reviews are just people who can't handle torture scenes, gore, you know.... think about the title of the movie for a second?
