The swordplay in this film was amazing. Nakadai's performance was really creepy as the souless ronin. I liked how the story was tied with historical events.

The story of an outcast samurai who kills ...well...everything.

This is yet another relatively little-known gem I've uncovered. An amoral young samurai who kills without remorse is consumed by evil. Fantastically shot and very gripping piece of work. Tatsuya Nakadai delivers a great performance in the lead. The ending though will frustrate a number of people, just be forewarned.

The Sword of Doom is probably one of the best samurai films you'll ever see. Actually, it's probably one of the best films ever. In one of the most captivating vilain roles ever, Tatsuya Nakadai plays the fearsome Ryunosuke. It's ri-god-damn-fucking-diculous how Ryunosuke manages to build the highest kill count in cinema history. I guess the only complaint is the ending, which cuts off short because the film was intended to be part of a trilogy (which never happened, unfortunately). But even the ending is fucking cool, and when a shortcoming is so bad ass, you know this film will rock your face off. Oh, and if that doesn't convince you, the esteemed Toshiro Mifune (if you don't know who he is, shame on you and your Pirates of the Caribbean bull shit) is in it, and he fucks shit up, like he usually does.

kick-ass samurai drama, features many japanese film staples including the tormented anti hero, my technique is better than your technique, revenge etc the fight scenes are well choreographed but unrealistic, very bloody though. This does keep your attention and the plot seems to get confused for a bit, but damn good!
