The Stepfather works for American Eagle Realty, and the company logo pegs him as both a patriot and a predator. 'It's like living with Ward Cleaver,' his stepdaughter complains, not knowing that the 'cleaver' reference could be another pun...

I've never noticed a blooper in this until now: At the start when the paperboy is riding down the road throwing papers onto lawns he throws one onto the lawn of the house Jerry is in and it lands on the grass near the footpath aka sidewalk but when Jerry comes out the house and picks the paper up on his way past the paper is in a different spot than before.

The Stepfather is one of the cult classics which even after so many years has not lose it's charm. Terry O'Quinn is excellent as the stepfather. Even you can feel the danger of him being around. Loved the suspense and thrill this movie gave me. The environment made in the movie was also dark and creepy. Overall, a great movie which needs to be watched by everyone. You're gonna love it.

Far superior to the remake, for two major reasons, the first being that this film actually cares about a storyline and two being the amazing performances put on by the cast. it may not be the best horror classic, but it sure makes a name for itself.

The Stepfather trilogy are among the most exalting and psychologically disturbing horror films of the 80s, and very well may have the ability to disturb young children of divorced parents to the point of excess. Terry O'Quinn assumes the role of the psychopathic stepfather, instilling an uncomfortable scenario for any young child, or family for that matter. One must assume that there existed a generation of weary horrified children during the 80s, watching The Stepfather in complete distress. Unlike the lousy remake, The Stepfather is a pure horror film that plants itself and hides in the deepest darkest corners of the unconscious.
