Top achievement of this film would be its really original atmosphere. It starts of filmed as if it is supposed to be a perfect family setting then as the film goes on, the sets become strangely lit and steady cam is in full effect, making the movie very much like a real nightmare. Corny acting and gore hardly take away from the film maker's imagery.

Far superior to the remake, for two major reasons, the first being that this film actually cares about a storyline and two being the amazing performances put on by the cast. it may not be the best horror classic, but it sure makes a name for itself.

Above-average slasher film with feminist underpinnings (minus the gratuitous nude scene). Terry O'Quinn and Jill Schoelen both give wonderful performances, but the real achievement of this film is character development and its critique of patriarchy. Love it!

This film is proof that a great actor can save just about any film. The quality of the story is very average, but Terry O'quinn's performance is eerie. His portrayal of the seemingly nice guy, who isn't so nice will have you questioning how well you know those people that surround you. The performance ranks up there with Alan Rickman in Die Hard, Rutger Hauer in the Hitcher and Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.
