Great performance by Tilda Swinton. It's important that stories like this one come to light and not be forgotten.

Peter Travers 09 Jan 2004

Jewison dodges the issues in the script by Ronald Harwood (The Pianist) to focus on cat-and-mouse chases that kill interest.

Michael Atkinson 09 Dec 2003

Ends up second-guessing its own high-minded strivings, not trustful enough of its audience to be sophisticated about history and ethics, and not pulpy enough to keep us awake.

A solid thriller set in a beautiful part of the world which does help things along, although Michael Caine's performance is strong enough to make it a decent movie in its own right.
