as wonderful as silent era films can be. Beautiful costumes and scenery... and Valentino's expressions are priceless.

Actually, the more I think about it, the trashier and sillier it gets. But, the film-making is so skillful that you can completely overlook the lack of sound and color (tinting of the picture helps), and the overall racist undercurrents. A very entertaining film that feels extremely modern in its own right. Just ignore the insanely dopey story.

Enjoyable story about a sheik who falls in love with an English woman, captures her and tries to win her love. Starring the most romantic movie star of all time, Rudolph Valentino.

This movie started my obsession with silent films - and with Rudolph Valentino, the first silver screen sex symbol. This is to date the BEST silent I have ever seen. Well worth the dainty little music with it.

Typical "woman gets captured and falls in love with captor" movie. There are certainly some social issues that are touched upon---racism, sexism, etc. I think this movie has the tendency to be overrated as well as Valentino's performance.
