The Seven Little Foys (1955)

Vaudeville entertainer Eddie Foy, who has vowed to forever keep his act a solo, falls in love with and marries Italian ballerina Madeleine. While they continue to tour the circuit, they begin a family and before long have seven little Foys to clutter the wings. After tragedy threatens to stall Eddie's career, he comes to realize that his little terrors are worth their weight in gold.

Bob Hope at his best and the bonus of a great Cagney cameo makes Seven Little Foys a truly great biopic. A true story of vaudeville entertainer Eddie Foy and his performing family is well acted by Bob Hope in his singing dancing and comedic element. The storyline/script is good too as are the production values. It's all very well done but above all it's entertaining from start to finish. Look out for James Cagney rekindling his oscar winning George M Cohen character from Yankee Doodle Dandy. The dance sequence between Hope and Cagney is something to see and treasure - two greats showing us their greatness. All in all, Seven Little Foys is fine entertainment that you will never tire of watching.

An okay film. Perhaps not one of Bob Hope's best; however, his amazing tap dance number on the table with James Cagney is worth the price of admission.

A wonderful ol Bob Hope Film on the real life of Eddie Foy and his seven children during Vaudiville days. Wonderful song and dance performances by Mr. Hope.

Not bad, but not great. The kids were little terrors most of the time, but some of the numbers were fun.

Bob Hope goes straight with a rather unlikable character and pulls off a nice little biopic. It takes a long time for the kids to show up, but the highlight is when Hope dances with James Cagney (reprising his George Cohen character). Nominated script by Hope regulars Jack Rose and director Melville Shavelson.
