The Ruling Class (1972)

When the Earl of Gurney dies in a cross-dressing accident, his schizophrenic son, Jack, inherits the Gurney estate. Jack is not the average nobleman; he sings and dances across the estate and thinks he is Jesus reincarnated. Believing that Jack is mentally unfit to own the estate, the Gurney family plots to steal Jack's inheritance. As their outrageous schemes fail, the family strives to cure Jack of his bizarre behavior, with disastrous results.

This lightly known comedy is incredibly unorthodox and is really a hidden gem. The late Peter O'Toole is fabulous in his role as the heir to an Earldom and the Second Coming of Christ (in his own mind).

A true standout in every way. Equal parts musical, political farce, and insane comedy. Peter Medak is one of those Godsend directors that realized films can be silly and good at the same time. Please watch this just to view an animatronic fox pea on a tree. The first time I saw this I film Youj and I literally couldn't believe a film could be so packed with such a strange power to delight in many ways. "10 Million vaults!"
