When legendary hunter Bob Rainsford is shipwrecked on the perilous reefs surrounding a mysterious island, he finds himself the guest of the reclusive and eccentric Count Zaroff. While he is very gracious at first, Zaroff eventually forces Rainsford and two other shipwreck survivors, brother and sister Eve and Martin Towbridge, to participate in a sadistic game of cat and mouse in which they are the prey and he is the hunter.

One of the most exciting and chilling movies ever. It's short, but that only means it has a breathless pace. The performances are to-the-point, the pathology explored here genuinely unsettling, and the score is merciless. The short story creeped me out, and the black-and-white film does the same. Loved this movie, a classic

The original adaptation of the 1924 short story of the same title is one of the original talkie-thrillers. The adaptation is almost scene for scene of the short story and as a result this is a very short film. The acting is also pretty strong, especially that of Leslie Banks who plays the Russian psychopath who hunts humans. All in all this is a very enjoyable film and while not a "must-see" it is well worth checking out.

I've never even heard of this film before, and I was very surpised by it. Short film, only about an hour long, it was filmed with basically the same cast and crew of King Kong while KK was being filmed. It actually had a lot of suspense and action, and I didn't expect that for a film made 75 years ago. A must see.

Sur un theme maintes fois decline au cinema par la suite (la chasse a l'homme), voici un classique, un peu trop court, mais tres efficace. Le Comte Zaroff et sa clique de cosaques sont inquietants a souhaits, l'ile et sa jungle luxuriante est vite percue comme un piege mortel et la salle des trophees sait se faire attendre. A voir.
