This is quite a grim watch, due to the plot of course. Its certainly an atmospheric watch, with suitably spooky sounding music played in the background. The main theme, I reckon, is isolation - more specifically rural isolation - that, trust and secrets. Its a somewhat thoughtful watch but it was a bit grim for mea nd the plot pace is relatively slow. Its not bad as a character focussed drama though. As a British indie film, I would recommend this, yes.

Wants to tackle huge personal and societal problems - toxic masculinity; the collapse of traditional ways of life - but it only displays them freak-show style.

Such films must be made. Otherwise ambitious, original young British filmmakers won't get a start and the only stories to make it to the screen will be the same old ones about aliens and boxers.
