The Lennon Report Full Movie

Prior to it's release last week, I had no clue what this movie was about. Apparently, It was based on true events regarding the shooting of a well-known person. However, it takes on two different perspectives. The first and foremost regards a journalist who was taken to the hospital for injuries mainly to his leg while the other is of the doctor who worked at that same hospital trying to operate on the shooting victim to save his life. Unfortunately for this movie, only the latter perspective works. The journalist was not an interesting character compared to the doctor. Because it was focused on the journalist, the movie felt like a drag as it reached the end of its hour and a half runtime. The lack of focus on an actually good perspective was the fatal stab to this movie that had a noble idea at its heart. For its efforts, it deserves a viewing; for its value, it deserves a seal of mediocrity.

This could have been an excellent film; the subject is compelling and the details and POV are unique. But something critical was lacking that I can only describe as poor production values - a lack of quality that brought it down to the level of a student film or a project not yet polished and ready for release. The motley mix of actors - some with long-term careers and notable performances, and others who appeared to be novices in a high school play - was distracting and disappointing, with the actress who played the red-haired nurse striking a particularly discordant note. I commend Mr. Weiss and the producers for creating a film that reveals a side of this terrible tragedy that has never been adequately addressed; I just wish they had raised more money to give the film the 'polish' that it deserves.

The Lennon Report was both interesting and compelling as it gives more insight into the events that occurred during John Lennon's death, and just how it impacted the people there in the moment of the tragedy. Alan Weiss character played by Walter Vincent is at times both hated and admired, showcasing a journalists need to get the story and how they develop emotionally and on a personal level from certain events that are inexplicable and U fathomable. While as an audience member you feel the pain of this deeply talented stars death, you can also relate to the journalists determination to tell the story so that the people who loved John Lennon and have followed his life have a right to know how the story of his death occured. From the doctors pain of losing his patient, to Johns wife, Yoko Ono, and her worst nightmare come true, the movie delivers wholeheartedly from an HONEST portrayal.
