The Krays (1990)

Twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray are raised in east London, under the influence of their hateful but doting mother Violet. As they grow up, Ronnie's violent nature takes over, and Reggie follows his brother's lead. The two become notorious crime lords who rule over the East End club scene. But at the height of their power, the brothers veer into different lives, giving the older crime bosses a chance to reclaim what the Krays took from them.

great movie that is rarely seen or discussed. not pronounced THE CRAZE but called THE KRAYS about machete wielding hitmen terrorizing LONDON. I'll bet the ART HOUSE, NEW YORKER-READING snobs thought it to be too bloody and gory. If you know any NEW YORKER MAGAZINE READING/NPR radio-type snobs tell them to jump in a river for me. Snobs seem to dictate society.

1984 for movies. That's how I interpret this film. The plot and images it shows are out of our present and future. Last but not least, the music, which is imprinted in your mind. A perfect 10 for years to come.

"The true story that shocked the world." I doubt all that, but this is a decent gangster movie, though it could have used more action and less talking heads scenes. The Kemps, who are polished singers (look up Spandau Ballet on youtube), were excellent as the twin terrors. Loved the unibrows. These two pushed some boundaries for the time period.
