I tried to like this film. But the lines were unbelievably cheesy, and there were many times when I just rolled my eyes in exasperation. I did enjoy Alan Rickman's and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio's performances, but I'd say that was the only high point of this film.

Surprisingly good considering it's just another cop film. Alan Rickman once again gives a great performance, while Kevin Kline blunders through his lines and has anti-sex appeal with that nasty mustache. But something about the movie just comes together to make it an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half.

It was a good try for a thriller, but it just isn't exciting enough! They tried to put some comedy in it but the comedy is not really great either! The plot in the movie is so complicated that it is difficult to believe that a police inspector could ever find this motive so fast! Well, I only remember Alan Rickman in this movie because he had some funny lines and he SHINES! He's gorgeous and lovely to watch in this movie. It's a pity, such a bunch of good actors like Rickman, Keitel, Sarandon and Kline... And still, it's a movie to forget! The 3 stars are entirely for Alan! :-)

The best part about this film fits comfortably into two words consisting of a total of eleven letters: Alan Rickman.
