A lovely Russian (and sometimes heartwrenching to watch) movie. Mainly because the young lead actor does such a good job of portraying the brave orphan, who is determined to find his real mother before he gets adopted by an Italian couple. I was so concerned as to what was going to happen to him, I checked IMDB just to see if the ending was happy or sad.

I love foreign films. They simply take me to another place. And this remarkable story is based on a true story of a young boy trying to find the mother who left him in an orphanage. Fascinating film--even if the ending missed a tad...I wanted it to continue...to know more.

One of the most amazing movies I have watched for a while...sad, especially since it is very real...amazing what we can do to our children. A must see!

Saw this purely on the description I read on the Hoyts site and it was great. The plot was a litle simplistic but was a really enjoyable movie.
