The Island at the Top of the World (1974)

A Victorian gentleman hopes to find his long-lost son, who vanished while searching for a mysterious Viking community in a volcanic valley somewhere in uncharted Arctic regions. The gentleman puts together an expedition team to go on the search, but when they reach their destination they must escape from some Viking descendants who will kill to keep their existence a secret.

Rather disappointing family fantasy film as a bunch of intrepid explorers go to unchartered places on the North Pole and discover a Viking Kingdom

Very good! I'd love to see it again. I really love adventures like this one, discovering lost worlds.

I loved this movie. An explorers son is missing in the arctic, so he hires a balloon to travel there, where they find a lost viking settlement

Poorly paced, but has some likeable characters and a pretty cool premise. The production design is breathtaking and some of the visual effects are great (especially the matte paintings), but the blue screen work is hideous, even for 1974. If Walt Disney were alive when this were made, it would have turned out so much better.
