In preparation for his daughter's wedding, dentist Sheldon Kornpett meets Vince Ricardo, the groom's father. Vince, a manic fellow who claims to be a government agent, then proceeds to drag Sheldon into a series of chases and misadventures from New York to Central America.

Takes a little while to get going (have to set up the plot, such as it is), but once the laughs start they don't stop. This movie is laugh-out-loud hilarious fun, and Peter Falk and Alan Arkin are a wonderfully matched team. Nice cameo by the hand puppet at the end.

This is for the original '79 version: Alan Arkin and Peter Falk make a neat team as a Dentist and a CIA agent in this crazy comedy of a miss-matched pair in a series of desperate situations. Whether in NY City or a foreign dictator’s war-torn desert nation they are constantly in peril and uproarious danger. Many funny lines and crazy characters make this a fast-moving romp from start to finish. Dialogue is slightly rough at the start but settles down to concentrate on the fun situations as it moves along. Will please fans of the two stars and features a very funny turn by Richard Libertini (that has to be seen!) as a crazy general.

Andrew Bergman has written one of those rare comedy scripts that escalates steadily and hilariously, without faltering or even having to strain for an ending.

A classic film! A true inspiration in comedy and direction (as well as set choice). Alan Arkin could have had a great career (as viewable in this work) but I guess Hollywood was doomed to failure.

Funny, clever, a none stop laughing movie with great comedians Peter Falk (CIA agent) and Alan Arkin (a doctor) trying to save the world as in laws. Great twists and a wonderfully put together plot!
