Lacking the zeal and comic energy that the material requires, The Hippopotamus feels like a soufflé that has failed to rise, leaving a film that can only be recommended to diehard Allam devotees.

To hell with critics. This movie was easily...easily...the best, wittiest movie I've seen all year. How can you not like a movie with a quote like, "I feel like 12 kinds of dick?"

This British satirical comedy may be a bit of a mess, but since it's based on a Stephen Fry novel, the snappy wit in the dialogue zings with his specific brand of intelligent humour.

well.I loved it brilliantly funny and witty with such wonderful use of our language don't understand how the critics gave it a low score cos I enjoyed it

The rest of the supporting characters are little more than targets of Wallace's diatribes. That's not to say that the A plot lacks appeal. But Wallace is, without a doubt, the star of the show.
