Roger was amazing! I am guessing the book would have been cooler but the movie was a decent indie flick. The characters, while not all fully fleshed and sometimes cliched, were not entirely unrelatable. A good movie to watch, but certainly no miracle.

The writing here is sometimes arch and laboured but Allam puts across even the most stilted lines with enormous brio.

Really weird, a little sad and with a very British sense of humor, The Hippopotamus is definitely worth its watch time. Roger Allam, as Ted Wallace, make this movie soar. His performance takes what could be a one-act play into a funny and focused adventure on what it means to be human in a world that fantasizes about superheroes and miracles.

Terribly boring with the most unlikable protagonist I've ever seen. The entirety of this dull, tedious comedy is lacking in humor and full of crude, obnoxious voiceover. The plot itself is stupid and I hated every minute of it.
