The Handmaiden (2016)

1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl, Sook-hee, is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, Hideko, who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle Kouzuki. But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to steal her fortune.

From the director of the Korean classic Oldboy, Park Chan-wook brings another fascinating tale of deception, intrigue and erotic seduction. Adapted from a Victorian novel and reset in 1930's colonial Japan and Korea, The Handmaiden tells the story of Lady Hideko, a Japanse Lady who has lived a secluded life with only her uncle whom she reads to. Enter Sookee and Fujiwara two con artists who plan to defraud her of her inheritance by pretending to be her Handmaiden and a rich Count respectively. Set over three chapters, The Handmaiden is a captivating and engrossing story which manages to pull the rug right from underneath you and it isn't simple just another Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Despite its silly ending, THE HANDMAIDEN is one of the most visually and narratively powerful films of the decade. The three leads deserve Oscars and are going to be major stars. It will give every viewer a lasting complex about life-sized puppets, however.

The movie deserve to watch because most cinematography is beautiful and the story is unique and the actresses are wonderful in movie and actor too I really recommend this movie.
