Fun. Great performance by Mary Astor (who won an Oscar for her work).

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 (1941) The Great Lie No synopsis except to say that it's a well made soap opera- like DRAMA film. In additional note, because of this film Mary Astor won her first Oscar as Sandra on the category of Best Supporting Actress. Not much to say except that it's a well made drama with great performances by Bette Davis, George Brent and especially Mary Astor. And a great ending!!! 4/4

Predictable to a fault, even Bette Davis can't save this film.

Script and acting not able to allow you to set aside your unbelief. Seems like a story of rich people who can't face reality, and not very well, by todays standards

Bette Davis not playing a COMPLETE bitch!??? That's Mary Astor, being the drunken floozy with an acid tongue and loose morals. "Women's picture" with a little bite.
