The Great Escape (1963)

The Nazis, exasperated at the number of escapes from their prison camps by a relatively small number of Allied prisoners, relocate them to a high-security 'escape-proof' camp to sit out the remainder of the war. Undaunted, the prisoners plan one of the most ambitious escape attempts of World War II. Based on a true story.

One of my favourite war films, Steve Mcqueen is brilliant, and of course the music at the end!!!

Awesome classic! They don't make movies like this anymore and boy what a movie it is. Between Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Richard Attenborough, James Garner, this is all star packed movie in which every actor gets his 15 minutes of fame, including the great Steve McQueen in the movie that made him a star, and rightfully deserved too.

Unexpected jewel from a horrible genre and era.

Steve McQueen was born to play Hicks, the "Cooler King." But McQueen is just one member of an all-star cast of American and British film actors that included future director Richard Attenborough, James Garner, James Donald, Charles Bronson and others. The story is based on real-life events. McQueen had found and purchased the vintage German WWII motorcycle used in the film. He had the bike rebuilt and did a lot of his own stunt driving.

One of the greatest P.O.W. movies ever made. Full of action, adventure, and a surprising amount of humor. Awesome movie!
