Fairly dull. Has some intrigue, and degree of edginess and social relevance, but does everything at a slow pace, and with overly elaborate detail.

The film is an atmospheric work, a period piece set in the 1840s during the dawn of the Age of Photography with a dense and moody visual style that befits its Brönte-esque subject matter.

her wit is spot-on. tom wilkinson's finest role.

Naked Jon Rhys Meyers in this film receives two of the stars alone. As much as I love these kinds of movies, this one was waaaaay below par, but the actors did well with what was handed to them.

Hm. Don't think I liked this. But some people might. Helps if you're a fan of the actors.
