For an entire year, this was the only film I recommended...

[Jordan] paces things at a leisurely lope, the better to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the witty repartee that fills the script.

This long shot pays off -- in spades. Not only has Jordan made a movie that's looser, hipper, freer and -- abetted by his great cinematographer, Chris Menges -- more sheerly beautiful to look at, he's also made the best movie of his career.

Extremely smart and cleverly crafted, this heist movie set on the French Riviera will keep you guessing even when you already know the outcome.

One of my favorite heist movies, "The Good Thief" is probably Nick Nolte's best performance ever. Set in Monte Carlo, there is a great contrast between the ancient building and the modern nightlife.
